i slept on MM. i liked Float On but didn’t check them out more than that. in first year i met this girl, Victoria, through my flatmate [they’d gone to school together in Dunedin]. i‘ve written about Victoria before. i can’t remember how exactly but in first year we had both gotten drunk with our separate friends and somehow i ended up with her in her room and we were having this hardout heart to heart about our families, how dumb people were, etc. somehow we got on to MM and she loaned me their entire catalogue. this song reminds me of her and how little guidance or direction i have now that she’s gone.

of course this seems like an easy pick for any emo who grew up in the 90s but it’s more than that. at our leaver’s assembly one of the guys in our form sang this and he managed to make it perfect. but what this symbolises now is just how long it’s been since high school and how i haven’t fucking done anything since. and also how goddamn happy i was and how perfect life was back then in my small town.

well shit. there are so many of them. the entirety of Girl Talk, Daft Punk, Justice, Eminem’s catalouges? but here are 3 tracks.

i dunno what the obsession is with Drop the Pressure, i can’t even remember where i would have first heard it but for whatever reason i loved it straight away. i’ve done some pretty insane things when i’ve been drunk and it’s been on, like on my 20th birthday when a good friend requested it in town.

Throw Some D’s is just a good song that’s catchy and Guns at Dawn is a Pendulum track that didn’t get much exposure but destroys everything. the entire Hold Your Colour album is full of good memories for me, i don’t think anyone from my high school has anything bad about that album to remember. we absolutely thrashed it in 6th and 7th form.

i think ‘your favourite song’ is a bit of a misnomer. people’s favourite anything can change from day to day and the individual that can narrow it down to just one song would be a pretty boring one, imo. 

that being said, i’ve previously noted my love for this song so it gets the feature, though there are literally hundreds of others. the playlist at my 21st last year was 700 songs, all of which have been ‘favourites’ at some stage in my life.
